Nicole Barrier – Principal, DDB Elementary School

With over 20 years of dedicated experience in education, Nicole Barrier serves as the proud principal of DDB Elementary School. A lifelong member of the Cottonwood community, Nicole attended Cottonwood Oak Creek Schools and has worked in three of the district’s five schools throughout her career.
Nicole holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education, two master’s degrees in Elementary Education and Educational Administration, and endorsements in reading and early childhood education. Her diverse teaching background includes eight years in special education, five years in third grade, and six years as a reading specialist with the remainder of her time being in administration.
As a leader, Nicole is passionate about building a positive, inclusive school culture where students and staff feel valued and supported. Under her leadership, DDB Elementary has implemented programs like positive behavior tickets and character education initiatives, as well as updating the current vision and mission. All of this supports increased positive behavior and a strong sense of community.
Nicole’s commitment to education runs deep, inspired by a long family line of educators and honoring the legacy of her late parents who shaped her love for learning and leadership. She believes in fostering collaboration, celebrating growth, and empowering both students and staff to reach their fullest potential
