Next Tuesday, December 10th, our girls and boys basketball teams will be traveling to Oak Creek. Oak Creek does not have a girls B-Team so only girls A-Team will be playing. DDB had it's Capturing Kids Hearts: Leadworthy Assembly for the character trait Teamwork! Teamwork is the ability to work in unity with others towards a common goal. For us to learn how to become team players, it is important that we learn to listen, encourage our peers, and allow and invite others to contribute their talents and skills. Teamwork improves communication, builds interpersonal awareness, and celebrates diversity.

Today we begin our basketball season! Come out and support our Falcons! Our Lady Falcons will be playing home today against Mayer. B-Team will start at 4:00 followed by the A-Team at 5:00. Our boys will be playing away at Mayer with the same starting times.
We have a new DDB 21st CCLC After School Club with Mr Schneider. We have a hand picked set of students (7/8th grade) who are writing and producing a podcast each month for our Falcons.

🌟 Creative Fun with Mrs. Winters' DDB Barbie Club! 🌟
Check out the amazing creativity of the AMAZING DDB Barbie Club! This week, the group turned simple popsicle sticks, Jenga blocks and Scrabble pieces into fabulous doll furniture masterpieces and made signs. ✂️✨ From chairs and tables to shelves and more, the kids worked together to bring their imaginative designs to life.
We love seeing these young designers hone their crafting skills while having fun and learning teamwork! 🎨💡 Stay tuned for upcoming projects and events from the DDB Barbie Club. Who knows what they’ll create next? 💕

DDB held its next Capturing Kids Hearts: Leadworthy Assembly for the character trait self-direct. CKH defines self-direct as the ability and learned skill to cast a vision of future goals and then take intentional steps toward who, where, and what we want to be. Instead of focusing on things to control or avoid, we emphasize our responsibility to make positive choices related to our emotions, attitudes, and actions.
Then we had an exciting Student VS. Staff game, where teams had to carry a ball without using their hands down the gym.

Basketball Try-Outs for girls and boys will begin next week, Monday, October 28th and Tuesday, October 29th. Teams will be posted Wednesday after school. With there only being one gym, and four teams to try out for, try-out times are spread out. Please view the attached image for times. COCSD and Mingus High School are teaming up to bring band programs to all four of our schools! Join us at Parent Night to learn more about these exciting after-school opportunities that will soon be available for your children.

This Friday and Saturday Dr. Daniel Bright will be hosting the Verde Valley League Volleyball Championship! Games begin at 9:00 am on Friday. There will be a $3.00 entry free. Five and under will get in free. Snacks and drinks will be sold! Come support our local teams!

Happy Friday Cottonwood Parents, Guardians, and community members. We are reaching out with a specific request for support.
We have identified a pressing need for health aids at our schools. Many of our students experience “accidents” and we are running low on donated clothing available for them to change into. Often, families are unable to leave work to assist, leaving students in the nurse's office.
We would greatly appreciate any used children's clothing for grades K-8 that you would be willing to donate. This need extends beyond Dr. Daniel Bright school, so any contributions would also benefit other schools in our community. Additionally, NEW underwear donations would be extremely helpful.
Our students and faculty are truly grateful for your ongoing support, and we feel blessed to be part of such a caring community.

We are extending an invitation to decorate Masquerade Masks on October 10, 3:00-5:30, at the Cottonwood Public Library. It should be a creative time; filled with fun and camaraderie. These masks will be auctioned off either at our November Gala or our Mystery Event (TBD) . Hopefully, COCSD and the Verde Valley community would be interested in participating in this event by attending the mask decorating. 😉Thanks, for always being so supportive of the positive mentorship of our Verde children. Hello DDB families... Our Diamondback route driver's last day will be this Friday, Oct 4th. We WILL have coverage as the driver who had it previously is driving it again starting on Monday, Oct 7th. But since he will still be driving another route before-hand, this will make the Diamondback route start later in the afternoon. We are looking at a 20 minute possible delay before leaving DDB.
